08:15 pm: another update?
Nah. Just a note to let people know I've been keeping up my blog on MySpace instead of here. Feel free to friend me over there - I'm mishhoward.

12:12 am: Life, the Universe and Everything... October Style
It's been over a month with no updates. I'm horrible at this stuff :) Ah well.

Let's see... this past month has been a long one. Not bad, just long. We finished tiling the entry way in our house. It looks WONDERFUL. My husband is a wonderful handyman. (When he wants to be!) We're in the process of refinancing our home so we can pay off some credit cards and put in a pool. Tomorrow's the appraisal and I'm so nervous. We're asking for $320K on the appraisal, but it definitely has to appraise for $303K or the deal won't work. Pools are getting horrible expensive! $35K for a basic pool with very few upgrades. We've opted for pavers instead of cool decking and a color light instead of a white one. And the other upgrades are a swim shelf and a salt chlorinator instead of the regular chlorinator. Can't afford a hot tub as well. Sigh. If money grew on trees.

We finally found a costume for Tori. It's a medieval princess gown. Which is a huge relief because she was really wanting one that showed off WAY too much flesh for my taste. Considering she's almost 11 and wears a junior size 5, it's very difficult to find clothing that fits and is also age appropriate. We still have to find a costume for the 7 year old, but that will be easy.

Today was fun, though. Our big screen TV died last night, so we decided it was well past time to get a new one. We ended up with this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000F2P2XI/ref=nosim/luby-20. My husband is setting it up right now and I can't wait to play around on it. We have a media center PC so we're hooking that up to it. Should be fun to surf the web on a TV like this one. Now we just have to upgrade our DirecTV services.

06:15 pm: musings
These last 7 days have been exhausting. In both good and bad ways. Last Thursday, I went to the ER with chest pains. Stayed all day. Had multiple tests. Luckily, it doesn't appear to be my heart, although I do have a follow up Cardiac Stress test scheduled. Unfortunately, they don't know what's causing the pains. So I also have a Pulmonary Functional test scheduled, to rule out asthma.

Friday, my husband and I took the girls and met his brother's family down in Disneyworld. That was awesome. We stayed in the Polynesian for the first time and I loved it! We stayed 3 nights. It definitely is nicer than the the other deluxes I've stayed in (Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Wilderness Lodge). However, I'll probably go back to the other two because they're usually so much cheaper.

Work seems to be going well so far. I'm enjoying it.

07:25 pm: Life is a crazy thing.
Life kinda sucks sometimes. My last post referenced starting a new job on 8/7. And how excited about it I was. It WAS great. For a grand total of 3 days. On the 4th day, I was fired because my ex-boss decided that since I didn't come back to her team I shouldn't be allowed to play on anyone else's team. So I was miserable. If I suffered from clinical depression, I would have committed suicide. I felt that bad. It was horrible. Luckily, the unemployment didn't last long. Right now my field has a ton of jobs and very few people looking for them. By Monday, my resume had been submitted to a new company and I had an interview with them on Tuesday. They hired me on Wednesday and I started this past Monday. So... one and a half weeks without pay wasn't so bad. But I shouldn't have had to look in the first place. ARGH!

10:48 pm: First Days
Wow. Today was the first day of first days. Both of my daughters started school (2nd and 5th grades) and I started a new job. The girls had a really good time and are both looking forward to day 2. Thank goodness! My own first day was truly lovely. It's not a new company, as a matter of fact, I just left this company in March. But it IS a new team. And I'm so very excited about the opportunities I could have with this new team. Opportunities for travel and learning new things. I'm very lucky. I also get to work with my husband as we actually report to the same manager. Weird, huh? Everyone wants to know how we manage to get along so well at work and at home. It's because we're best friends and we respect each other as people and as professionals.

Sometimes, I think life doesn't get any better than this!

05:24 pm: My current life
Well... let's start on the journaling, shall we?

Life is getting more and more interesting these days. I have a 10 year old daughter that wants to be 17 tomorrow. Make-up. Boys. Telephones... And a 7 year old daughter that wants to be called Jacob. Or David. Or any other boy's name. Anything but her real name which is very feminine.

I'm a software Quality Assurance tester. I'm also currently unemployed, but that's because my latest contract ended yesterday. Not a big deal. My dilemma right now is which of two new jobs to accept. Sorta. I have accepted an offer with a major international company and am due to start Monday 8/7. BUT, I just got a phone call from another company and they are dying for me to start as well. And the money is much better. To the tune of over $20K better. Not much of a choice, is it? I do feel bad about having to tell the first company that I will not be reporting for the job on Monday, however, that's a huge difference. I'd be sick if I didn't do that. But it doesn't mean I'm looking forward to it.

05:18 pm: Me. The Live Journal Loser.
I started this Live Journal with the intent of updating semi-frequently. It would be a way to get things off of my chest and put them more into perspective. Unfortunately, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, isn't it? I've put exactly 2 posts into this thing. Wow. ONE per year. With this one, that's about 3 posts in almost 3 years. Wow. I'm amazing.

I read journal's like Inell's. And I sit and want to weep because they are just so GOOD at it. I'm in awe over their abilities. And a bit jealous, because some of these people are just so darn talented. Ah well. We can't all be gifted writers.

I have a new resolution. I'm never going to be a gifted writer. Or even a somewhat decent one :) But I am going to write in this. I'm going to do this for me.

08:18 pm: wow
Another update. Can you believe it? I've not posted since November. These past few months have been horribly busy. Thanksgiving. Christmas shopping. My birthday. My anniversary. Christmas. New Years. My father's death. My husband's birthday... And that was just November, December, and January.

Thank goodness those months are over. This weekend, we're going to Fayetteville, NC to see Ragtime. My husband is totally enamoured of musical theatre and I can't believe we're actually driving from Jacksonville, FL to FAYETTEVILLE! to see a play. Ah well... Should be fun. And it's a weekend I'm not spending at home. I love hotels!

Speaking of traveling - only 93 days until our cruise. This will be our 6th cruise (2nd with the kids), but our first 7 nighter. And our first on Carnival. I can't wait. I've never been to Belize or Progresso. Should be tons of fun.

And only 5 more months until HBP comes out!! OOOHHHH the anticipation. Except sometimes I think I enjoy the fanon Harry much more than Canon Harry. I'll be waiting anxiously in line at Barnes and Noble for many hours prior to midnight on the 15th, but I'm not as excited about this one as I was about OOTP. Angsty Harry just isn't my style.

07:41 pm: Wow - an update
Can you believe it? I can't. Nope, definitely not. The world must be coming to an end... The people in Hell are getting ice waters... And it's snowing in Florida.

Actually, it's none of these. It's just I've been guilted into updating. Everyone else seems to do such a good job of finding time and having such witty things to say. And then there's me. Can't believe it's actually been over 7 months since I last typed. LOL.

But it's been a really BUSY 7 months. We've gone on a cruise with the kids, visited London in June to watch POA (and sightsee of course!). We've visited Lake Hartwell for a week. I've rolled over and am now a permanent employee for BCBSFL. (With a RAISE!!! WOOHOO!!)

Both daughters have had birthdays... Libby is 5 and Tori is now 9. Man, I feel old. Next year Tori will be in double digits. ARGH!

Now I just have to figure out how to make my livejournal pages cool - where are the teenagers when I need them.... Yoohoo.. Shelby...

11:13 pm: Easter and all that jazz
Darn it. I had a whole post written here and due to ID - 10 - T errors lost it. ARGH!! Ah well...

I found my nephew's Live Journal "PattyT" and it guilted me into updating my own. Actually, it shamed me into it, but hey, whatever it takes, right?

This week has been hysterically busy and stressful. We're hosting a huge Easter Party at our house Saturday morning and we've been running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get ready. I'm sitting in our library right now staring at 30 Easter baskets filled with chocolate bunnies and various other candies, as well as Easter themed pencils and punching bags. And then we decided to get smart and give out Super Soaker water guns to each child as well. Those should actually go over really well. It will be fun to watch all the parents run from their kids on Saturday.. EVIL LAUGH!! Of course, the Evil Demon Children (aka my kids) know better than to squirt Mommy. Daddy's a much better target. LOL.

Basically this post is a great way to avoid the work I'm supposed to be doing right now - cleaning house and baking cakes. Thank goodness the company I work for is closed tomorrow for Good Friday.

On another note - I do have some time to read fanfiction and I plan to do just that for the rest of the night. After I manage to get the kids to sleep.
